we'll see. I'm actually just trying to get a good solid platformer/tilemap base into my engine since I know for a fact I'm going to end up making another one or 5 at some point. TEIN's platformer stuff was a bit too limited for some of my game ideas

Why stick with tiles for your collision map? Seems like an additional unnecessary limitation.
