I think the original Xenoblade is being brought to Switch (over Xenoblade X) in part because of the ties it has to Xenoblade 2. Nintendo/Monolith Soft probably wanted to give people access to the full experience on one system.

They can both synergistically sell off each other better than Xenoblade X would be able too.

I never finished either one, but I *think* I preferred the first game. I may give it another go.

The first is definitely the better game, but 2 is also a great experience. I think I prefer 2's soundtrack and visuals, but 1's story, world and characters are much much better.
