I played it for a few more hours and I think it makes sense they removed the stealth aspect. The main character gets ever more powerful and feels like thunder going through each area. Love the game so far, mainly due to the story.

What was a little odd to me was walking through an area with lots of crannies to hide in and throwable objects and being like omg this would be a great area for some combat and… then you just keep going and nothing triggers. ok

I liked the subversion of the survival horror ammo trope. Firefights get way less twitchy with certain upgrades and mods, fwiw. Sudden enemy spawns (hell, boss spawns) remain a thing all game. :(
