side note I've read up on pure ECS a bunch and watched the blizzard GDC talk about it and I still don't really get the point of it vs having components with logic and data together

Okay reading your tweets I misunderstood and was talking about non pure version... the pure one where you store the data continguously? Done similar stuff with particles... my 2 cents is it adds complexity and only will see gains when you have a crapton of entities

yeah. in terms of the non pure version, I have found so much benefit from using that (even for stuff where all the enemies behave differently) that I'm never going back to inheritance trees
