What kind of controller did you use? You should be able to fire at an angle

I'm actually going to make a quick edit/correction. My intent was to say that there is no dedicated diagonal aiming button a la Super Metroid. Unless I'm mistaken, you can only shoot diagonally while in midair, correct? Apologies for the initial mistake.

You can shoot diagonally when you hold down the L button but you can't move while doing so
