This is an example of incredibly poor leadership based on expected overwork and fear. Do not ever be this kind of CEO. This behavior is not acceptable, both for people’s well-being as well as for a business.https://twitter.com/phillipcaudell/status/1101081229351415808 …

I never understood the philosophy of crunch at big companies. EA had mandatory crunch when I was there - meaning they designed their schedules assuming everyone would be crunching. Why not focus on making better schedules or more realistic goals?

They make unrealistic goals hoping to “milk” the most they can out of their employees to hit their dollar amount goals. Sadly if it leads to burnout, stress, or unhealthy lifestyles for their employees, it doesn’t matter. They can find new people who they’ll hire for less pay.

Yet these same companies burn through needless cash on a daily basis. They'll order food for everyone at lunch and dinner at upwards of 20 bucks a head. There's always hundreds of dollars of leftovers in the trash. They schedule OT when there's no urgent need. Pathetic/immoral.

I worked one place that had a "success-oriented schedule". Sounds great, right? Everyone wants success. But it was a schedule based on the assumption that everything would go right, and there would be zero problems. So of course we were always behind schedule.
