Really worried foundationally about the state of the game industry. Fallout 76 and Anthem really show how even our industry’s top houses just cannot make good games with these business models. Mass Effect 2 came out just 9 years ago. What the hell happened?
I suspect they could continue to profit making Mass Effect 2/Fallout 3 style games but there is always some "bandwagon" pressure on the execs to try and replicate the rampant wild successes of (a tiny minority of) multiplayer titles.

I totally agree. I'm sad that Mass Effect 2 is seemingly the high water mark as opposed to another step in the evolution of the series, opposed like how Uncharted 2 was incredible but 3 and 4 and Lost Legacy were even better. Also, Axiom Verge is fantastic so thanks for that!
