Hey, @AxiomVerge, your controller bindings kind of suck. I have the game through the Epic Store, but the game won't recognize my controller at all unless Steam is running *and* I add the controller to the gamecontrollerdb.txt file.
@flibitijibibo Is there any magic that steam is doing that I need to incorporate into the standalone?

I have done so, it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I've tried it with Steam running and with it closed, with Steam input off, and now I'm not getting anything. It's nominally a Switch pad, does that matter? The config tool reads the buttons correctly.
