@ChasmGame @AxiomVerge What challenges would a developer face who wanted to build a MMO style MetroidVaina. Massive world, many areas & themes. Each character type would develop powers to overcome various obstacles differently, Optimally bosses would be optimized for 5+ players.
The main thing about MMOs is that everything is server side and while everything appears fluid on the client, it's because it's covered up with animations while information is sent back and forth until everyone agrees on the outcome. So if it's like Castlevania where you throw a

dagger and a character takes damage when they intersect with its collision as it moves through them over time, it would end up a lot jankier than either a shooter where it only compares what yo u aimed at the moment you pulled the trigger, or WOW where every animation has a

wind-up and the attack doesn't happen until after the server has acknowledged that damage will take place.
