I think the feeling for most going in was “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and fear that changes might *possibly* bring lower rates through competition at the expense of possible costs elsewhere or poor service/outages.

There was a thing on the CA ballot a while ago that was basically "Should manufactured food companies be required to be transparent with ingredient & nutrition labeling" and the food companies spent SO much money on propaganda TV ads to get people to vote it down.

We had sentencing reform in Ohio, and the vast majority voted no.
