Does anyone know how, in Vegas/Movie Studio Platinum, to compress extra loud audio peaks without "flattening" the audio? I tried the built in compressor and have been trying my own for a while ,but it does stuff to my voice I don't like.

Ahm cool, I think vegas has similar, even OBS has some sorta plugins. OBS has a compressor and seems to distort less so I'm just using it's compressor for now. Been meaning to learn some of the fancier methods, but when it's just a spare time gig, pretty tough!
I have used one called L3 compressor that compresses over multiband and has some controls to make certain bands get priority over others so it doesn't destroy the band that's most important. Still not perfect but cheaper than Ozone
