Is there a workaround for the super-slow replace symbol functionality in Visual Studio 2015? Assume I *have* to use Visual Studio 2015.

Best option I've found is to just start editing the variable name first, then when the lightbulb icon appears in the margin, click on that and choose rename...it's a lot faster than choosing Rename first and *then* editing

I haven't noticed it being unreasonably slow. Maybe close VS and delete the working files VS generates? .suo and .db I think they are. They'll get regenerated next time you open the project.
