That's one of the issues for me right now, working freelance or not at all. Not having that one dependable thing to do makes me feel very adrift and directionless.
I have also found that starting my own independent project during downtime helps... some constant not-too-stressful thing that could maybe earn money but maybe just be fun to make... a thing for your mind to default to
