Games industry: tell me the one assumption you had about game dev that -in hindsight- is the silliest one you had. RT would be appreciated, too, as I'm genuinely curious what those are.

I have one assumption I’d like someone to help me debunk: can a developer (especially the one-man-team ones like
@AxiomVerge) enjoy the game they created? Does playing your own game feel like trying to tickle yourself or seeing a magic trick for which you know the trick?5 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

For me it was fun until I got to the intense qa stage of playing for long periods trying to find bugs... that kinda makes it feel like a slog

Have you ever been able to pick up your game for a playthrough just for fun? Like, do you look at your shelf and go like “hum, I’m gonna play axiom verge today!”?

No, just about never. But on the other hand I rarely reply other games I own, I'd rather go through my backlog of unplayed games, so that is a factor.
