i have people contacting me thinking discord is a social media platform you can advertise on :| one person wanted me to post an ad in all the servers im a admin on.

Discord can be a lot of different things! While I don't think Discord is a social media platform in the traditional sense, it can be a community hub where everyone enjoys spending their time. Definitely agree with you though - it's a weird space for ads.

yeah exactly! but these company executives/owners that message me have never used discord yet alone had an account xD. one contracted me to show him how to use it and didnt like it and then said " why should i use discord" i was like idk man you just paid me to show you how haha.

LOL. Yes, been there. I think it's important for us to explain & be representatives of what Discord can (and should) be for many communities. There's a lot of people who see the metrics & say, "I wanna make money on that."

I agree there! So many times ive had to be like paired with a good social media presence discord can be great for a new community. but just having a discord without anything will lead to failure ( ive been part of that failure sadly when clients dont listen.)

Agreed. Discord's require a constant presence & moderation to reach success.
