It's my belief that a company should invest heavily in both and not try to split someone's time. If expectations are high, then it'll lead to burn out faster than most due to the nature in which both of those jobs interact with human beings and the front lines.

I was once, for the best part of 4 years; a community, campaign, brand, channel, influencer and social media manager. Safe to say I burnt out. Hard.

Yeah, I feel that. So many things get combined under a single role and it's just brutal. You're constantly trying to balance six plates and one is bound to drop. You've only got two arms after all.

Needless to say, both social media and community completely drain you. Combine them both across all platforms? It's a lot on your mental health.

Throw living in the UK working a central timezone job, lacking sleep and sunlight not a good long term combo

Yeah, I've had my 70-80 weeks in community (+ social) and it absolutely destroys you. Some of the things we go through are a wee bit too much.
