She was a tough woman, surviving through World War II and post-war life in Germany before she took a chance on an Army Private and moved to the US years later. The two had three children (one of whom was my mother) and raised them to be excellent individuals.

Then, when my mother had me, Oma became my guardian angel. She taught me nearly everything I know about respect, hard work, and continuing to push on no matter how many challenges life throws at you.

As I was growing up, life was frustrating. I didn't feel safe sharing my hobbies in the world of video games, comics, and more. And you know what she did? She went out and bought Pokemon cards with me and my grandfather. She LEARNED Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, and more.

She was my best friend when nobody else really cared to be. Shared my hobbies, my interests, and kept expanding my horizons. Not only did this continue past my early childhood, but until the day she passed a few weeks ago. She always cared, supported, and learned about me.

I couldn't ask for a better grandmother, friend, and family member. I hope I live to become one tenth of the person she was in the crazy little circle of life; to make her proud of what she helped me become.

What's important though? Is that she's in a better place relaxing and resting after everything she did for us; after everything she did for any person she met over her lifetime. She left a lasting impact on me that I'll retain for as long as I'm alive.
