The second someone says they aren't in it or have any meaningful experience, their opinion is and should be irrelevant. I acknowledge that there is a vocal, toxic part of the video game community but it's certainly the minority

That is so ludicrous I mean of all games to use as an example Fortnite? I have seen much worse game and they are all GAMES so these so called professional's don't know what they are talking about. I mean we watched TV shows as kids where people got killed all the time & we're OK.

This is accurate. It's just the latest way of blaming art for rebellious behavior. Rock and roll, movies, even fuckin' Shakespeare. It's been a thing for centuries.

It isn't the games themselves that are the problem. The problem is what gamer culture has become, and the near-consequence-free setting of the Internet, and Social Media. As a species, we have played games that involve actual physical violence for a very long time.
