One thing I have learned as the father of children on the spectrum, is that there is always a trigger for what others perceive as inappropriate behaviour. We all have to look beneath the iceberg

Absolutely agree. A diagnosis set us free so we could support our boy in being the best he can be 👍🏻

It’s a long and at times very tough journey. But believe me you will be repaid in so many ways. It’s the small things that really matter.

It's easy to become overwhelmed when your given confirmation that your child is on the spectrum. Remember, a diagnosis is not a definition is just a different ability Your child will surprise you everyday. Stay positive & have a plan of support

We must stop looking at Autism as a deficit. My girl is ashamed of being Autistic due to the negativity around it. Ashamed of being herself. Its hard enough being a teen without this added stress. Of course she's a pain in the arse, she's a teen but she has amazing strength

Sorry for the rant but I'm sick and tired of ignorant politicians using as an insult and trying to create division attaching a stigma to our children. I have four great boys 2 of whom are I cherish each of thier abilities. We must highlight

SLT started at 19 months massively helped us. It's a joy listening to her voice. ❤

There are 161,000 family carers in Ireland, providing 3.7 million hours of care each week. Yet the politicians have barely mentioned disability rights. 161k is a lot of votes in a close election. Make sure you use yours for the candidates and parties that actually care.

Visual storytelling has been invaluable for us literally helped our boy become verbal

This is what we are up against in Ireland, shameful right wingers with no concept of FG senator apologises and 'withdraws remarks' about Taoiseach being 'autistic'

Awareness is fine, but we also need respect and resources to help our children. Never give up fighting for them.
