I have not been able to connect my nintendo switch to my windows ten pc. I normally connected the HDMI cable and the charger but then when I placed my switch in the dock it would show the green light but I got no promt to change HDMI or whatever.

The switch is not compatible with any pc no matter what. If your looking to put your switch on a big screen just plug the hdmi into the dock and strait into tv/moniter not the pc then plug your switch charger into the doc via the usb c slot after that plug in (1/2)

Okay, but where can I buy a second official dock in Canada? Nintendo won't sell me one without a full Switch attached to it nor any brick stores.

Ebay

Don’t use anything other than official power supplies either - including external batteries. Anything you use must support Power Delivery (PD) at the very least. 3rd party docks are just an issue waiting to happen.
