I was also told: “If you ever encounter an individual in crisis in the future, when you call 9-1-1, you can say that this might be a case for the new Street Crisis Response Team (SCRT), and if they are available and it’s an appropriate case, they can be dispatched to the scene.”

I’ve had 2 situations over the 10 years that I’ve called this city home where SFPD advised me to obtain restraining orders; however, I found the process so onerous & cumbersome that I did not follow through — in part because I knew both men needed counseling & professional help.
