I’ve taught many talented and hardworking high school students who are going on to four-year CS undergraduate programs but some of them are ready to build right now. I want to create an accelerated career pathway for those kids... one that doesn’t require burdensome loans.

Honestly Austin Allred is about the first company head to tie his success to student success. Great option for jumping into a career w/o debt. They give financial coaching too.

I’d imagine that model will continue to catch on. I believe Purdue is experimenting with a tuition repayment model tied to students’ salaries.

I've been pitching it to people I know, particularly a couple of people of color with awesome CS skills but few advancement options. 1 is a mom who's been out of the workforce, another a young man at a very non-diverse company. Anything to help address the racial wealth gap!

Fully online programs can be really challenging. I wish them the best. I’d be curious to hear about their experience so far.

Right. They looked at completion rates of online curricula and improved, planned for there to be realtime, actual people guiding the lessons. Students are very much led through the process by remote teachers.

I’m sure that makes a huge difference. It’s easier to feel a part of a community when class is happening in real time.

Shocked at how accurate and civil everything in this conversation is. No need for me to step in other than to say hello! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help!

Haha! Conversations between educators tend to be this civil. Thanks for the offer to help! I’d love to ask you a few questions about the students that you’ve been able to recruit. How can I best reach you?
