Hadn't used it in a long time. Can't believe how much better it's gotten. Congrats, Peter. Bought a lifetime membership.

Thank you dude!

Fresher request: select a country (eg United States).
-
You can sort by continent, which admittedly would suck to look for Asian cities with, but would make looking through the US easier.
-
Yeah, but North America - Canada vs Mexico is a big difference. Also no idea how feature request became fresher request.

Des Moines, Iowa. I hardly ever use my car now that I live and work downtown. You can get a really nice 1 bedroom apartment in the core for ~$1000/mo. And we’re connected to an excellent network of bike trails (not to mention

Here’s a recent article showcasing a few of the $1000/mo apartment options. If you want to spend a hundred or two more per month you can get a second bedroom or better amenities like included parking, etchttps://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/2018/05/08/des-moines-rent-1000/590420002/ …

Plus Iowa was recently ranked the #1 state by

Only downside as far as I’m concerned is that the winters can get really cold. But there’s a skywalk system that works for being a pedestrian if it’s too cold or hot to be outside. Or with the money you save living here just hop on a place to someplace warm for a bit.

The Tampa Bay Area has numerous neighborhoods with a good mix of urban and small town feel. 300 days of sunshine a year, and access to some of the prettiest beaches in the world
-
Tampa's very high on list for first time homeowner affordability! I recommended St. Pete although areas around UT could work too. Public transit not awesome though.
-
St Pete is booming at the moment and costs are rising. It’s definitely a metro area where you need a car - the communities are sprawled over a large are - but that’s how each community manages to maintain a small time feel. Safety Harbor and Dunedin are high on my recommend list
-
Love Safety harbor. Dunedin is lovely but not as walkable. How do you feel about downtown St. Pete specifically re: walkability?

If you find that proxy, let the rest of us know. I personally look for college towns in affordable states.

Taipei is the best city I've been in to walk around no matter what time of day or night. The city doesn't sleep with night markets open till the wee early hours of the morning and traditional breakfast shops open at the mere mention of sunrise.
