Regulation in China doesn’t hold startups back, it propels them forward. I’m shocked at how often I’ve heard, “our first customer was the government.” Perhaps it picks companies unfairly, but it pushes tech at an insane pace

Good point! I would add that the Valley is still the envy of the biz world. Immigration along with a healthy appetite for risk taking have been drivers of innovation in the US &I don't see that changing. The larger point here seems to be that the Feds could/should be doing more.
