From working in SF and Stockholm, a big difference is the much greater number of largish enterprises available as customers in the valley. It's no surprise that Silicon Valley does so much better for B2B startups while Sthlm has mainly had B2C success (Skype, Spotify, King etc.)

Exactly. There are maybe ~2,000 people in the world who know how to take a software company from 0 to among biggest in the world in a decade flat. A disproportionate number live in the bay area. But that knowledge will seep out in time.

Sure, but SV is less unique in it's access to e.g. smart junior devs. SV is unique for *experienced* folk, because of the scale and because of people moving around so much (the positive side of "hard to retain")

That's an excellent point as startups anywhere can have a great 9 months and then when you need that experience (to manage the transitions/scaling) the vast majority fall apart.
