I prefer doing my own travel and being reimbursed, but yeah, I can see the potential barrier (or hassle) for candidates; good reason for employers to at least offer to book everything.

I mean me too, free points, but I also don't have to worry about 99% of the things some other people worry about
-
Yep. Also if you are in a weird travel market you likely have better insight into what hotels/etc don’t suck. Actually “travel arrangements for candidates” should almost be a standalone service business for employee privacy reasons. Or bundled by someone like triplebyte
-
We already do this for candidates who need to travel for interviews, we handle all the logistics - they just enter the dates they can interview
-
That's because you're the good guys

These may seem trivial to people who have never had to worry about over drafting bank account, but to people who are living paycheck to paycheck float a flight, hotel, and meals can be a huge stressor.

With all due respect this program should be extended to people who aren’t going to be in programmer jobs. I left tech bc support roles do not get the same respect.
-
Our students train to be programmers, so that wouldn’t make sense

Expand the vision beyond self interest. It’s still self interest.
-
I genuinely don’t know what you mean
-
If you do good in the world without an overt self interest, others remember you for it. Researchers fundraising for healthcare is self interested even if a patient is positively affected. Shriners, not so much. Help more than your own and you’ll get goodwill.

One reason companies don't pay directly for air travel is because it requires asking for date of birth, which raises discrimination issues.
-
Pretty easy to book flight for yourself, give someone the login and have them change it to their info. Done it multiple times.
-
Calling that "easy" might be an overstatement
-
An email with login info and simple instructions. Tiny amount of coordination/work to hire the right person for the Co/team seems worth it idk

You also may want to look at a creative way for solving the Hotel and Rental car fund hold issue. 500 for hotel and 500 for car, is a huge issue if you don't have a credit card.
