In part: because the people who want to save a ton of money using it, also don't want to contribute anything to the codebase. But that's just a guess.
That’s not true at all; you’re making really bad assumptions. It’s a systemic problem that causes OSS to have a bad UX. Design by committee is inferior for a reason.

My only assumption is that you find it a lot easier to tweet generalized criticisms of complex systems, than filing pull-requests.
