Austen, I just listened to your indie hackers episode and was about to cold email you :) pitch: we're making the simplest feedback tool for teams on a mission. We'd love to empower all instructors at lambda to be the best they can be. Short call?

it's a fascinating bias when living in europe i had a tough time getting anyone from SV on a 15min phonecall but meeting for 45-60mins was never an issue somewhere between self-selection/skin-in-the-game and survivor bias

This happens all over. In SV you must live there to get help; or attend an alma mater.

It’s absolutely amazing who will reply to a short, clear email
-
But sadly, not surprising or amazing in terms of how incredibly biased this mechanism is. It "works" as a way to perpetuate privilege.
-
...are we talking about the same thing?
-
Think we are. That you can get this kind of personal help is amazing, for those that do get it. It's an unfair and opaque mechanism for those that don't. It's complex. People DO have a right to choose who to help based on personal affinity. But on aggregate it drives inequality.
-
Oh. I see what you mean. I’m referring to people I literally don’t know at all, but emailed out of the blue. Point taken though.
-
Yes, I understood it that way from the start. Thanks!!
