The more sophisticated ones say “data brokers are a thing” (true), the adtech economy can stitch together a micro targeted profile of an individual person (true), and assume that FB is selling. FB is, in fact, just competing with the whole stack that produces that outcome.

to be fair the case is really confusing until you understand the details the app platform allows export of (too much) data - which got sold facebook does not export data to sell it though
