College was amazing. Made many of my lifelong friends, had a blast, learned a lot not just knowledge but also character. To truly replace college you must offer the interpersonal experience

I don't think the goal is to replace college with college; it's to offer an alternative
-
Do you want to take market share from universities? That’s where my feedback would be useful
-
Yes, but not by trying to become a university; by offering a cheaper/faster alternative
-
... with an interpersonal experience ;) Otherwise you won’t unlock as much market

If I could go back in time and convince myself to take a different path I would. It was a good decision at the time. Not sure if I'd be able to convince old-me.
-
That's my weird Catch-22. I learned in college that it wasn't necessarily the best path. If I didn't go, would I have found a better path or seen all the paths or felt confident in my choice?

I went to an elite school. It was insanely expensive and I was in the bottom 1/4 of household income. But it was life changing. When I started at Columbia, I dreamed of one day working for The NY Times. By the time I graduated, I dreamed of owning The NY Times.

I’m 26 and just paid off my loans. Do not recommend most people go to college. Find an apprenticeship instead.

I went to college instead of my junior and senior years of high school. Graduated with a BS at 19. I’d argue it’s the last couple years of HS that are pointless, not college. I’m grateful for the people I met in college, and for connections that have led to job opportunities.

(That being said, it’s not the right move for everyone, and I’m very excited about
@LambdaSchool’s mission.)

Loved college, but wished and searched for more meaningful ways to spend my time/energy the entire time. A large % of required classes weren’t fulfilling to me.

As a 2 time graduate of a state uni(BS & MBA), my opinion is up in the air on this one. I’m not completely convinced that college paid for by loans is worth it. Oh, and I just turned 31.

I wish I hadn't returned to college at 34 because it didn't improve my career. Spent a lot of money to find out what I didn't want to do.

I'm glad I went but only because of the friendships I made there. The education didn't help.
-
And I should add that I can only afford to feel this way because I accidentally found programming. All my friends have careers where their degree was an absolute requirement for graduate jobs.

These responses, including mine, are alarming. You live and you learn, I guess.
