It saddens me how such an essential requirement of life is also a financial impairment.

Parents and their kids need to think about the NPVs of this so called "education". Many colleges and liberal arts degrees = -ve NPV. Some of these kids would be better off with a Library card.

Except every job post I've seen paying more than minimum wage is either something requiring high skill (plumbing, etc.) or requires a degree.
-
Now you have a low paying job and a huge loan and a hard time getting ahead. Should not have been lazy picking an easy degree. I see it all the time.
-
And your degree is in...?
-
I have two degrees in Accounting. Spent 4 years in public accounting & 13 years in investment banking = retired.
-
And you assume I have a degree in...? You know, since you think everyone but you is poorly educated/lazy. I know people with advanced degrees in microbiology & immunology who make more in cosmetic procedures than lifesaving medicine. The US is a crapshoot, not a meritocracy.
-
I didn't say that. I said a lot of people make bad decisions, including about their education and then have to live with those decisions for the rest of their lives and usually become whiners. I disagree w/ your crapshoot/meritocracy theory. You sound like a socialist.
