"I'm a divorcee I am mother of two on the autism spectrum, and a hairdresser with an injured shoulder. I was told my whole life that I wouldn't be much of anything and I am here to prove all of them wrong."

"I'm a father with 4 kids ranging from 14 down to 2 months. I had just lost my job when a friend of mine messaged me about this school. With a baby and a full time job, there was no way I could do night classes for what would have been many years to complete a degree."

"I left my family home when I was eighteen. My parents were wealthy, but they told me that my schooling wouldn't be paid for, which meant I couldn't get financial aid. I had to get various odd jobs along the way, constantly juggling the need to work and the stresses of poverty."

"Though I went to college I didn't pursue a degree with a specific idea of employment in mind but rather, enrichment. Unfortunately, trying to explain to potential employers that Philosophy taught me how to ask questions and find answers was less than fruitful."

"Married too young, abusive husband, dropped out of college, single mom of twins. Eventually went back to and graduated (at 31) with a degree in English Lit. New husband, another baby, life is great. Except spotty work history and no tangible skills. I know I can do this."

"I went through 2 years of community college and studied CS, but, due to lack of experience in working on real projects I found I couldn't actually build anything. I learned more in two weeks of Lambda than in those whole two years, which makes me happy and sad all at once."

"We were living off of section 8 housing and my mother's disability a lot of the time, which totaled around $350 per month. Food stamps were the only way we were able to eat. We found out my mom had cancer when I was in 10th grade. Long story, but Lambda saved my life. Literally"

As an aside, knowing how many of these students have jobs is incredible. For example that one ^ got a *fantastic* job.

Many of these just don't fit in 280 chars. The point is this: There is an incredible amount of drive and talent and lying latent across the United States solely because of the cost and risk of our broken higher education system. And it's very fixable.
