I dunno. For years and years they executed on killing Walmart at their own game but what really shot them up in value was google sitting on its infrastructure and not monetizing their excess capacity early enough. AWS is their bread and butter.

Wall Street fell in love with the investment decisions in light of long term market leadership considerations. The money men found ways to make money out of holding Amazon stock (option trading prime example)

I also hate to invoke the ghost of Geoffery Moore but markets pick winners, Amazon has been fortunate to have hit some out of the park home runs. They have failed miserably at other product offerings. The winners get their moment in the sun.

It is/was definitely an advantage, but Tesla has ostensibly operated under a similar calculus of long-term growth and moonshot bets, and they've had far less success in terms of growth metrics. Operational execution and balance sheet maintenance were far more important imo.
