VCs have been asking the (usually not incisive) question: "but what if google decided to do this?" for years. Now it's the same question, but with Amazon.

From 01/01/2019, due to EU regulations, banks will have to open their APIs for free; friends of mine working in the field told me that big retailers are on the line, ready to use them to offer financial services. I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon were one. (Google PSD2 for info)
