One of my fondest memories of being with my dad is going to Circuit City to pick up a new hard drive for my 9th birthday. I distinctly remember him and the store clerk laughing and saying, “8 Gigabytes, you’ll never fill that up!”

Curious: did you fill it up before moving into another hard drive or did it die first?

Football Pro 98 alone took like 1 gig. Then Age of Empires and RIP.

Heh, I mowed lawns/etc. for a long time to add a 52MB HDD to my Mac Classic; we drove down to Delaware to buy w/o sales tax. I had a Coleco ADAM w/ tape drive before that.

I remember asking my dad for a DVD writer and a rewritable DVD around 2002. "With this I'll be able to keep all my docs organized forever!" I still have that DVD somewhere around, holding my precious documents.

I remember getting my first video card that had 2MB of video ram in like 96 to play Asteroids on Windows 95. Now I have a new laptop coming that has a GeForce 1060 with 6GB of video ram.

My family Gateway computer had a 9 gig drive in it, and I remember thinking how ridiculous it was to have so much space. I still remember the cow-patterned box that the computer came in, it was so ridiculously exciting.

I remember mom splurging around $80 for a 125 MB SD card for my birthday which was so big that it would hold over 1000 photos shot on my top of the line 5.4 megapixel camera.
