Heard from a friend at a major digital agency that he had to spend a lot of time persuading a major client with a huge budget that a hybrid app was a bad idea. Arguments that tech people think they’ve settled persist in the real work for years afterwards.

Because it doesn’t actually save money and produces a terrible experience every time. We had that argument 5 years ago.

There’s an enormous technical difference between phonegap and React Native. It’s not just embedding webviews. React Native literally compiles to Objective C. It *is* a native app.

I’m as skeptical as anyone about non-native apps, but lumping them together like there’s no difference is just silly. Uber runs fine. Instagram runs fine. Airbnb runs fine.
