The study linked in the DevPart article is a dead link and the study isn’t on the AIR site anymore, and the USNews article dives deeper into specific schools. Any other sources for these claims?

It is not just that. The real scary shit is that most of those who defaulted on their student loans also have received ridiculous credits for houses, cars etc. This looks awfully familiar to that one crisis we once had not too long ago...
