Is this because they object to the idea of 6-week coding boot camps sufficiently preparing students for a career in software development?

Seems more to me that it’s the educators that are misunderstood. It seems like the educators I know feel like most people don’t recognize how difficult it is to teach well. Too many people think “anyone can teach” not “it takes training” to do what they do.

Agree. However training a trainer is much harder than generally perceived. One needs two levels of empathy to get the job done.
