Sometimes students send me curricula from their former code bootcamps. Some of these are so, so bad. Six months for literally Lambda School’s pre course work. They should be shut down.

Do you think the industry is due for some regulation or accreditation?
-
Ya, but that’s a really hard problem to solve
-
http://cirr.org is close-ish, but based on getting jobs. Accreditation requires someone to trust the accrediting body
-
Could ABET do it?
-
Don’t know what that is
-
ABET accredits virtually every professional engineering 2 and 4 year degree program in the country. It’s very old school though - quite serious about math, science fundamentals. They’d likely need to create a separate accreditation for something like this. http://www.abet.org/accreditation/
-
That would be awesome

That's why I talked my friend's son out of going to dev mtn and doing Lambda School instead
-
Yup. He calls me one day and says "is this a good choice? Can you talk my son out of it?", I did

Can you suggest coding boot camps that are good? I can't qualify for Lambda yet because I'm not a US resident.
-
You can if you pay some amount up front
-
Yes. It's a bit expensive, though. I guess CS education just is. Thinking of investing in it and changing careers.
