Two unpopular opinions: Who is President matters way less than we think it does; it’s mostly emotional. Protesting is one of the worst things you can do politically, because it’s an incredible amount of effort for practically no result other than showing n people feel some way.

Actually I take that back. Dunking on Trump all day on Twitter to a crowd that already agrees with while making yourself seem crazier to the other side you qualifies as well.

I disagree. Protests have changed the course of history. Civil rights. The right of women to vote. The energy from Women's March on Washington has resulted in a record number of women running for office. Don't underestimate or dismiss.

People can quietly legislate behind the scenes, but 'in person' makes a huge difference in swaying opinions. It's not one or the other. Protests are not enough, but to dismiss this way is not right, either.

most protests are attended by more media than protesters, and a good many of them are organized by paid professionals. (even if the proverbial paid protester itself is a myth)
