I mean nation states. For example, in Germany, where I live, the state pays for most university fees.

Gotcha. The tuition to CA state schools for a CA resident is heavily subsidized, too. It's the disadvantaged who will benefit the most from this & allows them to belay the cost of the school, paying it back *afterward*, without loans. Correct me if I'm wrong,

Yeh, I understand the business model, however it is only viable due to the ridiculous fees charged by universities in the US, and the fact that these fees aren't paid for by the government (or covered by a zero-interest loan from the government).

Should I show you how many applicants we have from German students?

That's interesting (if somewhat counter-intuitive). No idea why they would be interested in working to pay of a debt burden to their educational institution.

Because it's faster, better, and more modern than the University equivalent

It's only better for courses which are guaranteed to make money. I don't presume you would feel like losing large amounts of money offering Journalism or Politics degrees.

You're right, we will only teach things that are economically viable as careers

Which is why I don't think you can claim it is "better" and "more modern" than state-run universities, because you are constrained in what you can teach. This being said it is obviously a commercially viable alternative alongside traditional universities.

We're not a university; we're an entirely different thing. People come to us because for what we teach we're better and more modern. Even in Germany.

I never said we're a better or more modern University. I said we're better and more modern than the university equivalent.
