AFAIK no one wants to take away guns, just the assault rifles that don't belong there in the first place.

It's pretty nuts that you have to take a safety class and pass a written and physical test to obtain a driver's license but not a gun.

Going to extremes won't work for either side, guns should be a privilege earned by knowledge of safety practices like everything else.
