Looking at home prices outside of Silicon Valley makes me sick to my stomach. So hard to stay in SV, and I’m one of its biggest advocates
-

I don’t know how people do it.
-
An exit or you leave. Or two incomes.
-
i do it on one income. i've done it on one income twice, actually.
-
Just needs to be a non founder income. Equity doesn’t pay rent.
-
bingo. that said, it's much more sustainable if you work for a larger company that pays 75% market rate.
-
That’s still renting though. Saving for a down payment on one income would be rough
-
All this said, I abhor that this is the reality here.
-
Ya. We really should buy and Airbnb in Utah.

It is literally cheaper for me to live in a 4-bed house near Burbank and commute via the awesome
@SurfAir than rent was for my 4-bed in SV. -
And my door-to-door from home to the Menlo Park office is about same as when I used to commute to the city on Caltrain.
-
How often do you commute? And how much is surf air? I’d fly if it weren’t for TSA
-
No TSA. Turn up 15 mins before the flight. Take off. Comfortable 8 seater planes. Amazing service. I use the mid-level which is $2500/mo.
-
I go up and down about three times a week on average. Work from home twice a week.

You are by far not alone. I don't know how the average person (not in tech) can afford to live normally here. It use to be so different.
