Yeah. Practically free for 50 years is not a true statement. Stop with the hyperbole. Are you aware of @AaronSwartzDay

I'm a huge fan of Aaron Swartz, but public libraries have been around for a long time. You don't need the research Aaron was trying to free to learn to program
-
Aaron was doing a lot more than that. Perhaps you should watch killswitch.
-
I've seen it. This thread wasn't about Aaron, it was about people learning how to program. That information has always been pretty easy to get to.
-
It must be amazing to always be right.

I think it’s not intuitive to people that real live humans teaching and coaching makes all of the difference

hi
@dimasc_io Lambda Grad here.I can tell you why I did it.I have a non-stem BA & took classes at UCSC & UC Berkeley Extensions as well as a million tutorials. Lambdas strength is in its structure & access to mentors & other devs.Slack channels by themselves were worth the price -
nice, i'm glad it worked out for you. I can tell you why I didn't do it. I work fulltime as a frontend dev & ux designer and come home to a pregnant gf & dog and can't sacrifice 5-9 every week night, especially for something I feel that I can and will soon achieve on my own.
-
It's great to learn on your own IMHO as you already have got past your first jobs.

i'd add "free information" !== "curriculum" (conducive to learning)
-
This is every other learning platform’s issue. There are gaps and students don’t know what to take next. Even paid sites like Lynda or Pluralsight lack a curriculum path to help students gain basic competency.
