What's sad is that they encouraged many places who realistically did not have a shot at this. The divergence continues.

Median home price in NYC is $600k? Learn something new every day.
-
I initially thought the same...but think that 600k is for new york state, I guess
-
Or may be I'm completely wrong

The Zillow Median ZHVI for NYC lines up with what’s shown in the infographic.pic.twitter.com/HUw2hDGBRB

It has really changed our way of life here in Seattle.

I don't think "local STEM graduates" is a useful metric in NY.
-
Nor in Seattle nor DC/NoVa nor the Bay Area for that matter. New grads move and interns relocate for the summer; especially when the company is paying for it (as is the case for the companies being discussed here).
-
Agree on the Bay Area for sure, not so sure about NoVa or Seattle. I turned down jobs in both of the latter after graduating because they weren't New York. The kids may have changed in the last ten years, of course.

What do you suggest they do? Take it easy so someone can do to them what they did to Wal-Mart?
-
I'm sorry but what do you think they did to Wal-Mart? Provide competition? You're literally missing the point. It should not be possible to legally lock your competitors out of fair market conditions.
-
Yeah they took away Wal-Mart’s monopoly on commerce. Someone else will do the same the Amazon eventually. All the big guys fall (Sears anyone?). Again, not sure what you want them to do other than what’s best for their business and compete as hard as possible.
-
I mean there's not much to be done now but I think any ethical company should include clauses in their charter/etc that protect them from legal requirement to exploit every loophole possible.
