I was a cab driver for eight years, and then Uber and lyft came out and destroyed my income. I went from making around $1200 a week working 4 days a week, to working 7 days being lucky to bring home $300. That’s why I am at lambda, so I don’t get replaced by tech again.

Are you talking about VC's subsidizing the cost of Uber / Lyft rides to force them to be competitive?
-
My guess is that this is about traditional higher ed, which (until now) has had a near monopoly on post secondary education, Just like taxis did!

Crazier still was how sure Travis was it would work while the current customers were spending $100s to get around SF. Convincing people to buy cars for the purpose and drive around on their own dime without any guarantee was one of Uber’s biggest innovations

I once spent $100 to get from golden gate park to Bart (during outside lands). They couldn’t handle the incredible demand, so it focused on supply exclusively for the first few years.

Are you saying uber/lyft is no longer cheaper then a taxi over there? In Australia it's far cheaper then a taxi
