The productivity loss of sending 5 million students/year through 4 yrs of school while they rack up expensive debt as they start their careers is a human tragedy. Even if 25% of it is unnecessary that’s 1.25 million years of wasted time compounded by debt *every year*.

As an admirer or Lambda School, I feel students should pay for performance, like a job with a certain salary.

They do, right?

I meant to say they don't with traditional colleges. You pay the fees (whether via a loan or out of pocket) even if the college doesn't produce a bright future for you. That leads to a lot of scams and wasted money.

Powerful message and many of us come from this standpoint. 2 years of traditional education and loans to realize the path I was chasing wasn't for me. Had an alternative like Lambda existed back in 2012 when I joined the Air Force, I would've leaped at it then as well.
