Looks like Lambda School will be ready to roll out in the UK and EU on January 1, 2019. And yes, the model will still work. No cost until you’re hired.

So, US citizens in USA and UK/EU citizens in UK/EU will have an option with no upfront payments; but foreigners living in US with visas / green cards in progress are asked to pay 100% upfront. It could at least be e.g. 50%; otherwise no skin in the game, and huge hit on students.

The problem with ISAs is that they need access to your income statements. Since US students file taxes every year, then their income is verifiable and Lambda gets paid per the agreement. US permanent residents are also able to get deferred tuition, but that’s the main issue.

Foreigners in the country pay taxes exactly the same way as everyone else.

Right, and I didn’t mean to insinuate otherwise. It might depend on Lambda’s ISA provider, Leif, and their eligibility requirements for an ISA. I don’t know why they have such a restriction for US citizenship/permanent residence, but I feel like that would be the main culprit.

I don't mean to disparage their choice, it's their business. Just puzzled that their supposed advantage - proven skin in the game - flies out the window in this case. I would at least expect some form of installment plan to alleviate financial hit from upfront payment.

If you want an installment plan or to pay 50% upfront we can work that out

OK, though my wife gets very different signals from your comms (being told 100% upfront is the only option). I will refer her to this thread; I hope you indeed will be able to work something out. Thanks for reply.

Your wife is right; I’m sure that’s what she was told, as that’s our policy. I’m trying to figure out how to help out.
