I can honestly say as a gig driver, that I have heard clients call homeless many names and they're not nice.

That could have been a clearer slogan. "For the homeless" sounds like you want homeless people. (i.e. want people to be homeless) "Against the homeless" sounds worse.

Yeah “homeless” vs “homelessness”

It’s convenient to claim that anyone who doesn’t think that throwing money at the problem will solve it is against the victim

NIMBYs are against the homeless whether they say it or not.

Moving in the kinds of circles you & I do, you won't hear much of that at all, but it's not an uncommon view in the Bay — often from older residents + homeowners

I’ve absolutely heard people say negative things but I don’t think anyone is really “against the homeless”. It’s a truly heartbreaking situation, but Its also an issue with so many layers that making it a binary decision does a disservice to all people in SF.

Many people complain about people experiencing homelessness in an inhumane way. I find it’s often visitors to the city or tech workers who haven’t been in the city long.

This is like proclaiming that you’re “against cancer” or “for honesty”. Don’t expect a cookie for something that’s expected of you as baseline as a decent human being.

Classic "with us or against us" marketing tactic designed to trigger an emotional response and galvanize support. Unfortunately it by definition paints anyone with a nuanced or divergent view as callous and un-empathetic.
