Unless you quit your current job, you never get the opportunity to broadcast that you are looking for new jobs.

It feels like there is an interesting opportunity for a company to be built around ‘free agents’ in the business world.

This company would essentially give you 1-3 months of salary/benefits, in exchange for a percentage of compensation increase.

I really like this idea, but it would be tough to make the math work (I haven't even factored in cost of benefits here). You'd have to take >50% of their salary increase for the first year (yikes) or assume people will get new jobs basically immediately.pic.twitter.com/E6ebyoaXN8

Or you'd have to assume they're getting a really huge percentage change salary increase. Like from 100 to 200 kind of territory.

Yeah, I haven’t fully thought out the model, but I imagine there are creative ways to make it work. You could also just make them pay interest on your ‘loan’ to them?

Could work! My guess is it'd morph into something like Lambda School where you don't pay people during it, and your main cost is training that unlocks substantial salary increases

I’ve spent forever playing with these models. You have to find a way to pay less than a full salary (can you cover basic needs)? We’re doing this for Lambda School students, just providing cheap housing + food can make it work, but isn’t a swanky lifestyle
